Bathroom CarpetStill one of the most popular choices of floor covering in UK bathrooms, carpet does make a bathroom feel warm and inviting but there are a few drawbacks (see the table below). Unlike most other floor coverings, carpet is not cold underfoot. It is also non-slip which should make it ideal for use in bathrooms. There is a huge selection available and it is quite cheap, as very often one cut off a standard roll, will be enough to provide two bathroom carpets. After a few years, if the first piece of carpet gets grubby you can remove it and use it as a template to cut the second piece. Foam backed carpet is the most common type used in bathrooms, but any carpet can be fitted if required.
A bathroom carpet can retain moisture especially around baths, showers and toilets so it is best to try and protect these areas with bath mats. These can be easily cleaned (most are machine washable). Carpet tiles could be used in place of carpet - these are slightly easier to clean than carpet. |
