Bathroom CladdingAlthough relatively new to the UK market, bathroom cladding, a form of waterproof wall panelling, has been used on the continent for over 25 years. Bathroom cladding is made from uPVC honeycomb section panels that slot into each other using a tongue and groove system. The face of the panel has a vinyl layer, which comes in several different: woodgrain; marble effect; tile effect; solid colour. There are two main types of bathroom cladding, vinyl faced PVC wall panelling and plywood based panels. The plywood based systems are made up of a marine plywood core, faced with a coloured laminate, with similar finishes to the uPVC systems. Both forms of cladding are ideal for use in bathrooms and showers. The uPVC panels are cheaper, easier to fit and offer slightly better insulation properties than the plywood based systems but are less robust (the plywood based panels are ideally suited to commercial applications).
Bathroom cladding is the ideal bathroom wall covering and has plenty of advantages over traditional wall coverings as can bee seen above - its only real downside being a lack of choice compared with other wall coverings. |
